Instructor Recertification Course (IRC) - Bulletin

There are currently 437 AQB Certified USPAP Instructors (Instructors) whose certifications are set to expire on March 31, 2022. Instructors who would like to renew their certification beyond this date are required to complete the online Instructor Recertification Course (IRC), which will be made available by The Appraisal Foundation (Foundation) through McKissock.

The Foundation will issue periodic reminders to instructors strictly as a courtesy; however, it is the Instructor’s responsibility to ensure that their instructor certification is kept current.

The online IRC will be available for six (6) months, from October 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022. All Instructors must complete this course no later than March 31, 2022 to renew their certification beyond that date. Instructors who recertify will have their instructor certification extended for two (2) years to March 31, 2024. An examination will not be included in the online IRC. As a reminder, once you complete the IRC, you are certified to teach the 2022-23 USPAP course material through 12/31/23. However, you will have until 3/31/24 to renew your credential for the next cycle.

In addition, it is important to note that Instructors must complete the entire recertification process (not just the IRC) prior to teaching the 2022-23 edition of the USPAP Courses (or their equivalents). Failure to complete the online IRC and recertify by 11:59 p.m. EASTERN TIME on March 31, 2022 will result in the expiration of the AQB Certified USPAP Instructor’s certification.

All Instructors must complete the following steps to officially recertify:
  1. Update your Foundation account, complete the online recertification application questions, and pay the application renewal fee of $150. Once in your account, please click on the “About” tab to update your contact information and make any other changes. If you have an active state license be sure to enter that information. Changes to your account information can be made by clicking on the Pencil Icon (to the right of the section). Be sure to hit "Save" at the bottom of the screen. Your Foundation account and Sharefile are two separate systems so you may have two different login emails and/or passwords.
  2. Register for and successfully complete the online IRC through McKissock's website between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022. This includes paying the course fee of $295.
Upon completion of the online IRC, the Foundation will receive notification from McKissock and will verify that you have completed all of the necessary steps in the process. Within a few days of notification, the Foundation will issue you an official renewal certificate and provide a link to the 2022-23 USPAP course material.

Official notification from the Foundation is required before an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor is authorized to teach the 2022-23 USPAP Courses (15-Hour or 7-Hour) or their equivalents. The online IRC is not recognized by the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) as being equivalent to the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course (or its equivalent); therefore, the online IRC will not satisfy state appraiser regulatory agency requirements for completion of the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course and will not count toward appraiser continuing education requirements.

Any questions regarding the AQB Certified USPAP Instructor Program should be directed to JoEllen Alberts at [email protected].

As always, Instructors are required to notify the Foundation of any adverse professional disciplinary action(s) taken against them within thirty (30) days of the date of such action. Notification should be sent to Foundation via email or mail:
