International Activities

The Appraisal Foundation recognizes the importance of interacting with its colleagues from around the globe. Foundation leaders are involved in organizations across the globe that bring appraisers together to share best practices and grow the profession. Here's a look at some of the ways The Appraisal Foundation stays connected to appraisers worldwide.

International Valuation Standards Council

The Foundation is a proud sponsor of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). The IVSC is an independent, not-for-profit organization that serves the public interest by setting global standards for valuation practice and the valuation profession.  The Foundation is an active participant in the IVSC Advisory Forum and Advisory Forum Working Group.

The Foundation and the IVSC are working together to harmonize valuation standards for the benefit of valuation professionals around the world.

A Bridge from USPAP to IVS 2020

As a part of the Foundation and IVSC harmonization efforts, the Foundation released A Bridge from USPAP to IVS 2020 (Bridge). The Bridge was developed to assist appraisers familiar with USPAP in producing a valuation that is also compliant with IVS. The Bridge was recently updated to be consistent with current IVS and the 2020-21 USPAP.  While the Bridge describes additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with both standards, a full review of both sets of standards is always encouraged. This joint effort unveiled more commonalities than differences in the two sets of standards.
